Completed the construction of the Yecheon Pumped Storage Power Plant 


 

 A ceremony to celebrate the water containing of the Yecheon Pumped Storage Power Plant was held at the pumped storage power plant on August 9, 2010. Kim Jong-In, CEO of Daelim Industrial Co., Ltd., Jang Do-su, president of Korea South East Power Co., the lawmaker for the region, the governor of Yecheon and local residents attended the ceremony to celebrate the water containing of the dam and prayed for the successful finish of the project. The dam contained water in five years and nine months after the start of the project. In addition, they named the reservoir “Songwol Lake” after the old name of the lake area, “Songwol-ri” and held a ceremony to take the wrap off a monument with the lake name written on.
 

 The lower dam of the Yecheon Pumped Storage Power Plant is 63 meters high, 535 meters long and can contain a maximum of nine million tons of water. The excavation work began in September of 2009. The construction of the dam was finished and the dam began to contain water in June of 2010.At the moment, the construction of the Yecheon Pumped Storage Power Plant is 85% finished. After the completion of the construction of a 400,000KW underground power generation facility and the upper dam, the project is scheduled to be finished at the end of 2011.
